Without a Face

Dear Abigail,

I could tolerate it no longer. My eyes were useless for all things but weeping. My face began to burn and my lips opened only to emit sounds of tainted sorrow. What good is a face if rendered merely a plane for tears to fall? My reflection no longer revealed a face, but a tangible manifestation of regret. What more could I have done?

Dia de los Muertos

I took a few photos at the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) gallery at the Phoenix Public Library during last month's First Friday. Several artists submitted private altars honoring and celebrating a loved one's life. It was quite touching.

Silver Moons Belong to You

Sunset Rubdown - Silver Moons

I fall in love with Dragonslayer more and more each time I listen to it.

Confetti floats away like dead leaves in the wagon's wake. There were parties here in my honor until you sent me away. Now silver moons belong to you. Passing the baton from the old mare to the fawn - it was out of line but it was fun - and didn't you love the part right before the dawn? But now silver moons belong to you. I'm off to the ballet, and to practice all these ancient ways. Tell the new kids where I hid the wine, tell their fathers that I'm on my way, and say "Hey, maybe these days are over now..." And I loved it better than anyone else, you know. I believe in growing old with grace. I believe she only loved my face. I believe I acted like a child making faces at acquired tastes. And now silver moons belong to you...

Gone are the days bonfires make me think of you. Looks like the prophecy came true: You are a fallen tree. He is a fallen tree. "How old are you?" "
No, how old are you?"

Under all the folds of the dresses that you wear there's an ocean and a tide and a riot in the square. Over are the days that the congas made your hair sway around to the cadence of your 'hey-oh-hey-oh' cheer...
Under all the folds of the dresses that you wear you sway around to the cadence of your voice when you sang there.

Home is whenever I'm with you

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
NEW OBSESSION.

"Jade?”
“Alexander?”
“Do you remember that day you fell out of my window?”
“I sure do, you came jumping out after me.”
“Well, you fell on the concrete and nearly broke your ass and you were bleeding all over the place and I rushed you off to the hospital. Do you remember that?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Well, there’s something I never told you about that night.”
“What didn’t you tell me?”
“While you were sitting in the backseat smoking a cigarette you thought was going to be your last, I was falling deep, deeply in love with you and I never told you ‘til just now.”
“Now I know.”

The City of Angels

I have been slacking with this blog, due to school starting up again, but primarily due to laziness and lack of creativy. Here a few photos from a recent weekend trip to LA with my friend Lydia. A great deal happened. A great deal, which I cannot mention in case I ever want to run for office in America. I have included only scenery photos, because most photos of humans are wildly inappropriate. Enjoy!

Moving objects with my mind

A friend introduced me to Telekinesis a few months ago, but for whatever reason, I did not connect with the sound. It is the musical project of Michael Benjamin Lerner, who performs vocals, guitar, and drums on the recordings of the "Telekinesis!" album. However, on tour, he travels with a band consisting of Chris Staples, David Broecker, and Jonie Broecker. Around May, I went to a show at the Rhythm Room in Phoenix where Telekinesis and another band opened for Margot and the Nuclear So So's. I thought Telekinesis put on a good show, but still could not fully get into their sound. (Right now, I am essentially admitting that my past self was quite a fool.) For some strange reason, the song "Coast of Carolina" came into my head a couple days ago while I was preparing to do laundry, and I could not get it out of my head. I went to listen to it, loved it, reviewed shitty video footage I took at the show a few months ago, and uploaded it to youtube.

Telekinesis - Coast of Carolina Live @ the Rhythm Room

Yesterday, I actually purchased the album, and have been listening to it on repeat since. While, I enjoy the album as a whole, I always have those "favorite" songs on albums, and below are my track favorites on Telekinesis!:

Track 2."Coast of Carolina" In my head: at first it sounded a bit bland, but after a while it began to sound amazing. great song.
Track 5."Awkward Kisser" sounds like a delightful mixture of Death Cab and Of Montreal
Track 11."I Saw Lightning" (Listen on Myspace) such a cute love song.
